In addition, we believe it's critical to bring a wide variety of intellectual asset services to our clients, which sometimes includes services beyond those we provide. As a result, we partner with other intellectual asset companies providing services ranging from insurance, to engineering to legal services, all as further described below.
Clients
Intellectual assets are possessed by companies of various sizes and in many industries, although certain industries often are responsible for a disproportionate amount of all intellectual assets. Companies in industries such as technology, telecommunications, hardware, software, manufacturing, consumer products, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals rely heavily on creating, maintaining and commercializing intellectual assets. Because the creation of intellectual assets is a core competency for these types of companies, they often possess strong intellectual asset management functions and large patent portfolios. Therefore, we typically work with these clients on assertion-based licensing clients.
In addition to clients in industries typically laden with intellectual assets, our target market is comprised of companies that have created intellectual assets to solve specific business problems or to support processes, but who do not rely primarily on intellectual assets to drive their business. Despite significant investment in their intellectual assets for internal uses, these companies may not be proactive about commercializing these assets. These clients are well-suited for our intellectual asset management services and opportunistic-based licensing candidates.
